On 10 November 2020, Mr. Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic met with the delegation led by Mr. Sheref Malkoch, Chief Ombudsman of the Republic of Turkey.

Chairman of the Supreme Assembly greeted the guests and expressed his respect and esteem to Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey, as well as Turkish people for their fraternal support in Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. Chairman of the Supreme Assembly also expressed his condolences over the earthquake and loss of lives in the Turkish city of Izmir, expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of the victims, and the brotherly people of Turkey, and wished healing to the wounded and injured.

Noting that the delegation's visit to Nakhchivan coincides with the great joy of the Azerbaijani people due to the liberation of our lands, which had been occupied for 30 years, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly stated: “At the same time, today marks day of remembrance of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. There are people who belong to humanity, and there are people who belong to their own nations. Great leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Great leader Heydar Aliyev are not alive today, yet thanks to their immortal deeds, their souls are permanent. Great personalities are blessed to humanity by serving their people. Both personalities have played an important role in expanding Azerbaijani-Turkish relations at different times. Although, Azerbaijan lived within the Soviet Union for many years, these ideas were revived after regaining its independence, and today's Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood and strategic partnership were established.”

Giving brief information about the formation of the ombudsman institution in Nakhchivan, as well as the works done in this area, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly ended his speech by these phrases: “God Bless Turkey, God Bless Azerbaijan! Long live Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood and friendship!”

Sheref Malkoch thanked on behalf of the delegation for the sincere attitude and stated: “November 10 marks day of remembrance of the great leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. It is also marked by the liberation of Azerbaijani lands, which have been under occupation for 30 years. This victory was realized with the determination of Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the will of Azerbaijani people, as well as the support of the Turkish people and Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey. This proved once again that the Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood and friendship are unshakable and eternal.”

During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on certain issues of mutual interests.

At the end, Mr. Sheref Malkoch, Chief Ombudsman of the Republic of Turkey presented a memorial gift to Chairman of the Supreme Assembly and a photo was taken.
