On 3 November 2020, Mr. Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic met with Mr Binali Yildirim, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey and the delegation led by him.
Welcoming the guests, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly extended his satisfaction over seeing them in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic while mentioning that today, our friendly and fraternal relations based on ancient historical roots, unity and solidarity inherited by our national leaders - Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Heydar Aliyev - have been further strengthened, and Azerbaijan-Turkey relations have risen to the level of strategic partnership. Nowadays, our bilateral relations are developing in accordance with the will of the Presidents of both countries. Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan also plays an important role in the development of relations between our countries. Cooperation between the Autonomous Republic and the Republic of Turkey in economic and trade, science, education, transport, army building and other fields is expanding year after year. The peoples of Azerbaijan and Turkey have historically been together. Expressing his respect for the brotherly Turkish state, leadership and Armed Forces for their comprehensive support to our country in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabak, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly stated that today, Azerbaijan and Turkey are going together and sharing a common interest.
Chairman of the Supreme Assembly also expressed his condolences over the earthquake and loss of lives in the Turkish city of Izmir, expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of victims, and brotherly people of Turkey, and wished healing to the wounded and injured. Highly appreciating the visit to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as an indicator of one nation, two states, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly once again expressed satisfaction over meeting with the guests in Nakhchivan.
Expressing satisfaction with his visit to Nakhchivan and thanking on behalf of the delegation for the sincere attitude, Mr Binali Yildirim noted: “I wish victory to all our soldiers who are fighting heroically for the liberation of Karabakh, God's mercy to our martyrs and healing to the wounded. Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has a special place for T urkey. Nakhchivan is an important autonomous republic in terms of being a link between Anatolia and Turkic Speaking States. Therefore, we consider Nakhchivan as a door to the Turkic World. Thus, development of relations with Nakhchivan is crucial for us.
Important decisions on Nakhchivan were made at the meeting of Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Baku this year. One of these decisions was related to the construction of the railway to Nakhchivan via Kars ".
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on certain issues of mutual interest.
